In a story that would make all mothers proud, we talked about something that we were very passionate about in 2023—saving money.
Sticker shock at supermarkets is very real, considering how everything is either inflating, shrinkflating, or both. But house brands have been there throughout, and haven’t increased prices as drastically as their name-brand competitors! In our comic, we paid tribute to the humble house brand, did the math, and explored how house brands keep their prices affordable! Here are some key frames from the comic:

The Job Shortage, Explained
Amidst layoffs and pay freezes, it’s tough being an employee in 2023. We’re now in the post “free money era”, and the overly optimistic pandemic growth that companies of all sizes subscribed to is beginning to take a hit. But on the ground, what that looks like is a bunch of us either quitting en-masse, or being laid off. And if you’re looking to get a job somewhere else, it’s been hard.
The problems aren’t immediately evident at a macro scale, but when you start looking at the little things, they start adding up. Add the insistence of the people around you that you’re “not trying hard enough”, and it’s a tough mental state to be in.

Don’t Sneeze On Me
This one is personal. I spent 2 week after my holiday recovering from nasty flu-like symptoms, just because someone sneezed on me at the airport. Covid numbers are up again, and it’s too early to un-learn all of the good personal hygiene habits that we’ve picked up during The Dark Years. So here’s a reminder about how infectious your sneeze is, and why you should stop sneezing openly in public.
